Several new utilization methods of waste foam

Jul 06, 2021

1. Use waste foamed plastic as heat insulation material

With the development of the chemical industry, polystyrene foam has been used as packaging materials, disposable tableware, etc., to the field of building insulation materials with more market prospects. Add a certain amount of low boiling point liquid modifiers, blowing agents, catalysts, stabilizers, etc. to the waste polystyrene foam after defoaming. After heating, the polystyrene beads can be pre-foamed, and then heated in the mold A rigid polystyrene foam board with fine closed pores is prepared. This kind of board can be used alone, or it can be coated with a thin aluminum sheet after forming to make an aluminum-plastic board. Its thermal insulation performance is very good. After the actual use of the roof of the house, there is no frosting and condensation, and the construction cost can be reduced, and the construction operation is convenient. Therefore, in northern heating areas, the polystyrene foam insulation board produced by this method has a wide range of uses and good development prospects.

2. Use waste foam to prepare waterproof coating

Using suitable modifiers to modify waste foam plastics, water-emulsion waterproof coatings can be prepared that are quick-drying at room temperature and have a long water resistance time. The process of this method is simple, and it is also very convenient to adjust the viscosity with water. The waterproof coating can be used for corrugated boxes instead of moisture-proof oil, and can also be used for waterproofing of fiberboard.

3. Use waste foam to make p-nitrobenzoic acid

p-nitrobenzoic acid (PNBA) is mainly used in the manufacture of strong fibers, pesticides, dyes, resins, metal surface rust inhibitors, sunscreen agents, color film couplers and filters and other products. It can be obtained by nitrifying and oxidizing waste foam plastic. The use of this method has the advantages of easy availability of raw materials, simple process and high added value of products, and is suitable for promotion in township enterprises.

4. Using waste foam to crack styrene

There are three methods for producing styrene through the cracking of waste foam plastics, namely thermal cracking, catalytic cracking and anaerobic catalytic cracking, which can finally convert waste foam into styrene, which is an important chemical raw material.

At present, the recycling technology of waste plastics is constantly being researched and introduced. The use of waste plastics to modify the production of construction materials deserves more attention and exploration.
