Brief Introduction to EPS Mould and Accessory

EPS Mould is a type of mould used for manufacturing EPS (expanded polystyrene) products. One of the advantages of EPS Mould is its versatility. The mold can be adjusted to create products of various sizes and shapes, depending on the requirements of the customer. The process of creating EPS mould begins by injecting polystyrene beads into the mold. The mold is then heated to a high temperature, causing the beads to expand and fuse together, forming a solid block. Once the block has cooled and hardened, it can be removed from the mold and cut into the desired size and shape.
EPS accessories refer to a range of components and fittings that are designed to complement and enhance the functionality and aesthetics of EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) products. These accessories are typically made from the same EPS material or compatible materials, ensuring seamless integration and a cohesive look.

Selecting a High-Quality EPS Mould

Mold Material
The material used in the mold's construction directly affects its durability and longevity. High-quality molds are typically made from materials like aluminum or steel. These materials offer excellent heat conductivity, robustness, and resistance to wear and tear, ensuring a longer mold lifespan.

Mold Design
The mold's design influences the final product's shape, texture, and details. Opt for molds that have precision in design, with smooth surfaces, accurate dimensions, and well-defined features. The design should also facilitate easy release of the molded EPS product.

Cavity Number
The number of cavities in the mold dictates the production capacity. Consider the desired production volume and choose a mold with an appropriate number of cavities to match your requirements. Balancing efficiency with mold complexity is essential.

Thermal Conductivity
Efficient thermal conductivity helps ensure uniform heating and cooling during the molding process. Molds with good thermal conductivity prevent inconsistencies and warping in the EPS product. Materials like aluminum are known for their high thermal conductivity.

Ventilation System
Adequate ventilation is essential for releasing air and steam during the molding process. A well-designed ventilation system minimizes defects and surface imperfections on the EPS product. Look for molds with carefully engineered venting channels.

Ease of Maintenance
A mold that is easy to clean and maintain helps prolong its lifespan and ensures consistent quality over time. Consider designs that allow for easy disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly without compromising accuracy.

Compatibility with Production Process
The chosen mold should align with your specific production process, whether it's for block molding, shape molding, or other applications. Ensure that the mold's dimensions, features, and functionality suit your manufacturing setup.

Cost Considerations
While high-quality molds come with a higher price tag, they offer better performance and durability in the long run. Consider the investment as a strategic choice to maintain consistent product quality and minimize downtime.

Supplier Reputation
Partner with reputable mold manufacturers who have a track record of delivering quality products. Read reviews, check references, and inquire about their expertise in EPS mold production.

Customization Options
Sometimes, custom molds are necessary to meet unique design or production requirements. Seek manufacturers that offer customization options, ensuring that your mold aligns perfectly with your needs.

How to Quick Install the EPS Mold to EPS Shape Molding Machine
  • Lifting the assembled mold onto the mold loading trolley by forklift or crane.
  • Put the lock pins into the bottom of the mold loading trolley to fix the mold on the trolley and prevent the mold from sliding and tipping during the transportation process.
  • Manually push the mold loading trolley to the corresponding EPS shape molding machine where the mold is to be installed.
  • Align the mold loading trolley track.
  • Manually crank the screw to complete the alignment for two track.
  • Remove the lock pin.
  • Check if there are any other objects in the steam chamber of EPS shape molding machine.including screws and tools and other hardware.
  • Push the entire mold loading frame into the fix mold.
  • Lock the fixed mold and movable mold.
  • Push the mold completely into the chamber and click on the touch screen to lock the fix first, then click on the touch screen to lock the movable mold.
  • Look at the hydraulic pressure gauge of the hydraulic station and observe on the machine whether the oil cylinder is fully locked and check whether the locked at the same time
  • Loosen the clamping lever of the mold transfer. Note: This step is very important, otherwise the mold may be damaged.
  • Install the mold fixing hose.
  • Install the two black air hoses of the gun switch and the mold feed hose in turn.
  • Open the manual ball valve of the air source of the material gun.
  • Install the mold stopper and adjust the position of the mold stopper according to the thickness of the foam products.

How to Properly Maintain the EPS Mold
  • EPS Molds should be repaired promptly when damaged.
  • Regularly clean the EPS molds to prevent the accumulation of scale.
  • The dimensions of the EPS molds need to be checked every year. If the dimensional deviation is too large, it needs to be corrected or repaired.
  • When the EPS molds are not in use, they should be placed on a dedicated mold platform after being closed.
  • When moving the EPS molds, try to avoid shaking.
  • EPS Molds should be lifted and put down gently, and other items should not be placed on them.
  • EPS Molds should be stored with dust prevention measures.

Proper EPS Mold Storage
  • Clean the mold cavity with a sponge and soapy water and let dry.
  • Cast plaster into the mold and let dry. Do not demold. You will be storing the mold with the plaster casting in it to help maintain dimensional stability.
  • Important: Do not use a urethane resin or epoxy for this step.
  • If possible, place the mold with the casting in it in a black plastic garbage bag and seal tightly.
  • Place on a flat level surface. Note: We have heard from customers who have inadvertently stored their molds with objects under them, causing the mold to permanently distort.
  • Store in a cool, dry environment out of ultraviolet light.

6 Steps To Make a EPS Mould

  • First according to the customer supply of samples or drawings, planning the product three-dimensional drawings.Make EPS mould planning according to customer requirement.Through the process requirements and manufacturing process method to determine the mould processing plan and processing materials.
  • Plan to make 2D drawings of EPS muold after making sure, then make foam models by model masters.
  • The model is delivered to the caster to cast the mold and parts.
  • After the die is cast, the program is made by the programming engineer and processed by the CNC machining center.
  • After finishing, each core, cavity and spare parts are further processed, and the accuracy and scale are checked for consistency with the data.
  • After each part is finished, the installer will assemble the scattered parts together, thus a complete set of EPS moulds is made.Check whether the test products are qualified,The products can only be delivered to the customer after they are qualified.
