The pillar industries of the national economy such as machinery, automobiles, electronic communications, home appliances, petrochemicals, and construction all require the development of the mold industry to adapt to them and provide them with production guarantees. People have become more and more aware of the important basic position of molds in manufacturing. According to Cao Yanan, executive vice chairman and secretary-general of China Die & Mould Industry Association, and Qin Ke, deputy secretary-general, in recent years, due to the strong pull of market demand, China's mold industry has developed rapidly, the market is vast, and both production and sales are booming. my country's mold industry has ushered in a new round of development opportunities. From 1996 to 2002, the annual output value of China's mold manufacturing industry increased by an average of about 14%; in 2003, the growth rate reached 25%, of which the growth rate of Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other developed mold industries was more than 25%. The mold industry is the backbone of metal products, and the machinery, automobiles, electronics and other industries are the main markets of the mold industry. Among them, the automobile and motorcycle industries occupy half of the mold industry market. As far as the automobile industry is concerned, more than 80% of the parts and components of automobiles and motorcycles must be formed by molds. At present, there are 140 types of models in China, and it is possible to expand to 200 types in the short term. There are 500 to 600 types of updated and modified vehicles. A model of car requires several thousand molds and is worth hundreds of millions of yuan. 80% of the molds will be eliminated during the remodeling. If domestically-made cars and motorcycles are remodeled by 1/3 every year, it is not difficult to imagine how huge this market will be. In addition, electronic and communication products have a very large demand for molds, which often account for as much as 20% of the total mold market in developed countries. From the pillar industries' demand for molds, it can be seen that the mold market is very broad.
